Abdelaziz Bouteflika is a leader of the Algerian War of Independence and served as Minister of Youth and Sports during Algeria's independence in 1962. In the subsequent leadership, he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and a member of the board of representatives in the legislature. During his tenure as Foreign Minister Al-Jazair he became a member of the highly reputable and respected in the international community as the leader of the Movement for the nations who do not want to take part in the west block, a capitalist United States and eastern bloc, the socialist Soviet Union. In 1965, he was promoted to chief organizer group by Ahmed Ben Bella. He quit as foreign minister in 1979 after losing his bid to succeed President Houari Boumedienne. Between 1981-1987, he was removed because of alleged corruption as alleged political opponents, but in the end he returned after the fall of the case. In 1999 , he was appointed to the presidency and as a potential -free , with 74 % of the vote , according to authorities. On 8 April 2004, this secular president reappointed by 85 % of the vote in an election that observers said as an example of democracy in the Arab world , when the fight with his rival and former Chief of Staff Ali Benflis .
